Plus i will have my typical June TBR where i will talk about the other readathons i will be doing in the month of June. Hello July reading slum am I right lol.

What is PanemAThon?

PanemAThon is a hunger games based readathon. Youre split up into 12 districts (that you chose) and youre given a challenge based off the district that your in. Like district 12 is the coal district so youd have to read a book that has either the word fire in the title or displays fire/flames on the cover. (IE Catching Fire). There are readalongs that start June 1st with Ballards of Songbirds And Snakes and the last one is MockingJay. I will link the video down below along with the twitter if you want to know more about the readathon.

District 3 TBR:

So as you guys might have guessed I chose district 3. So this section is for my TBR for my district. The challenge is technology so have to read a sci fi book. My Sci Fi book for this readathon might change. But this is what im planning to read to represent my district.

SCI FI Book:

When I saw this challenge I immeditaly knew what district I was joining and book I was going to read for that challenge. I chose to go with Illuminae by Amie Kaufman & Jay Kristoff. I’m not going to go into it because I think a lot of people in the bookish community have read this book.

Group Book:

Pitch Dark

I believe this is the book. There wasn’t an authors name by the book on the spread so I took a guess.

Will I Be Reading Books For Other Districts?

As of right now, the answer is no. I do also plan on participating in HouseCupAThon as well as SelfLoveAThon. If I do just because that’s because I want to read something for that district. But I’m not going to force me to read a book that starts with the letter G (district 9) if I’m just not feeling it.

Book Recommendations for Summer

Welcome back! Today I will be doing book recommendations for the summer season. I know that you might have (and most likely do) have a different reading taste than I do. And that is perfectly okay. If you know what you want to read this summer great. If not, maybe this post will give you some ideas of what to read this summer. I think most people love to read more fluffy books like comtemparies while others like to read mystery and thrillers. Like there is really no in between. If I have a book review for a book I mention, I will post the review so that way you can see my thoughts on the book and see if you might be interested in reading the book for yourself.

To All The Boys Ive Loved Before

This is a perfect summer read in my opinion. I think that the trilogy can be a great summer read. The series follows mainly Lara Jean and her relationship with Peter. I don’t want to give to much away just in case you do want to read the trilogy. But I also think that you can watch the movies on Netflix as well.

(To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before Book Review {ReDone})

When We Believed In Mermaids

This has to be one of my favorite books of the year. It follows two sisters from their past as sisters to the present. In the present one sister thinks the other is dead when in reality she is alive in New Zealand with a husband and kids. You go on this journey to understand why the sister fled and the journey back to each other. *Note, there is some sex scene in this book so if you’re not into that maybe don’t read. I mean I don’t their bad as they could be, but I don’t want you to feel surprised or uncomfortable.*

When We Believed In Mermaids Book Review

Five Feet Apart

Ok. This might have been one of the saddest books I have read in a while. I’ve read a lot of sad books but I think that none of them have made me want to cry as much as thins one.

Five Feet Apart Book Review:

The Wife Between Us

I haven’t read this book. But it seems like one I would enjoy rather much. This book seems like it will make you as the reader assume a lot of things. Like a jealous ex-wife whos obsessed with her replacement, as well as the anatomy of a love triangle. But assume nothing. this book might expose the secret complexities of an enviable marriage along with the dangerous truths we ignore in the name of love.

The Fault In Our Stars

This was a great story and I use to read it every year. But I haven’t read it recently. I would love to reread it soon. I enjoyed the characters, Hazel Grace and Gus.

Where The Forest Meets The Stars

This book just like When We Believed In Mermaids, was one of the best books I read this year. It follows a child who thinks she’s an alien and finding a loving home. She finds that home then gets ripped away from it. She does go back to the person who has taken care of her pretty much the entire book.

Where The Forest Meets The Stars Book Review

Ok. I know I didn’t add a lot of mystery or thrillers. Just because I don’t know what to recommend. If you have a mystery or thriller you want to recommend then feel free to comment it.

Top 5 books with plants or flowers on the cover I want to read.

I was tagged by DevouringBooks and you can read their post here. So I will be doing the 5 books with plants or flowers on the cover that I want to read.

New Moon By Stephenie Meyer

Ok, I do have to read twilight but I do want to read the series before the new book comes out in August. I haven’t read new moon but from the movie version (yes I’m basing this off the movie version), Its about Bellas vampire boyfriend and his family leaving. She starts getting close to Jacob from the reservation. Things take a turn when Jacob turns into a werewolf and can’t see Bella anymore. Bella finds out that Jacob is a werewolf and everything starts becoming a new normal… Till Edward needs saving because he thinks Bella is dead. Once Edward knows that Bella is alive, the family moves back to Forks and take a vote to whether or not Bella should become a vampire or not.

A Flower For The Queen

This takes place in England in 1770. If you know me then you know I’m quite a sucker for historical fiction. But anyway back to the premise of the book. The king of England asks this gardener to go to South Africa in search of this flower. As the ship departs from England, this gardener has no idea what he’s about to embark on. This book takes a lot of unexpected turns especially once the gardener gets to South Africa.

Love Letters Of The Great War

This book is a collection of letters (I believe) of the troops of WWI and the women back home. It’s filled with not only love and longing but fear, jealousy, and betrayal. These letters show the intimate glimpses of both men and women who are separated by conflict.

Bridge of Scarlet Leaves

This takes place in LA in 1941. The main character is a violinist whos life is destined to unfold with the predictable grace of a Bach concerto. But then she falls in love with her brother’s best friend. The brother’s best friend is the ambitious son of Japenese immigrants. Shes fully prepared for both families to be against them as they got married the day before the Pearl Harbor attack. Now her husband is seen as nothing but the enemy. the main character follows him into one of these camps as she wants the acceptance of her in-laws while her husband is trying to prove that his loyalty is to America. Even if proving it comes at a tremendous cost. *Note, this book might be triggering to those who had family in these camps and know the possible horrors that went on. Or if you were in one of these camps when you were younger I don’t want you to relive it if you’re not comfortable with it.*

The Rose Petal Beach

Our Main Character is horrified when she learns that he is accused of something terrible. But when she learns who the accuser is, everything takes a turn for the worse. When she is backed into a corner she chooses who she believes. But her choices have consequences. A stranger arrives and starts pouring rose petals in the sea in memory of the loved ones shes lost. The stranger tells her shocking truth as it will change of everyone she meets. Once again it forces our main character to make some devastating choices.

Have you read any of these books? If so, did you enjoy them? Also, are there any books on this list that you haven’t read that you want to read? What are your top 5 books that have plants or flowers on the cover?

Things NOT to say to someone with a mental illness

I got this idea from LifesFineWhine and you can read their post here. Since Mental Health Awarness Month is coming to an end I wanted to do this post because theres people in the world who say their mental health avocates then say these exact things. If I get any information wrong please let me know down in the comments. I do want to learn so that way im better prepared for the next time I do a post about mental health.

It’s all in your head

I think no one WANTS a chemical imbalance in their brain that causes their illness. Because sometimes we can’t control the depression, the anxiety, the panic attacks, and all the other mental health illnesses. Some don’t want bipolar disorder or Schizophrenia but guess what they have it. So saying “its all in your head” might not be the best thing to say when that’s more than likely what they want to escape from but can’t.

It could be worse/ Other people have it worse

It kinda goes back so people don’t want the chemical imbalance in their brain. Because sometimes missing the deadline is the worse thing that could happen to them at that moment. We know people are homeless and other people are living off food stamps and don’t know where their next meal is coming from. We know that people have it worse but that doesn’t stop them from worrying about every worst-case scenario if things don’t go how they want them to go. Sometimes getting yelled at for doing something small can trigger something huge. Plus sometimes people can go days sometimes weeks without feeling like their happy selves and they get called lazy because they have no motivation to do anything.

Suicide is selfish

No. You want to know what’s selfish. Treating people like shit to where they honestly think suicide IS their only option. When people have these thoughts it’s brushed off like no big deal when said person is struggling. Because when someone with suicidal thoughts bring up the fact they want to kill themselves or they are thinking about it, they are usually met with this response or the “so you’re going to burden someone else with you taking your life.” (well something along those lines). It seems like no one takes it seriously then when that person dies the people who say that “they could have talked to me” is said when in reality they just brushed it off and they feel guilty for not taking it as seriously as they might have.

Get over it

If they could they would. But almost always this phrase makes them feel even worse for burdening someone who isn’t a therapist with their problems. Sometimes those who have a mental health illness want someone to talk to about how they are feeling then get told to get over it (along with some of the other responses on this list). Telling someone to get over it could lead them to suicide because they might feel like they are burdening everyone with them just existing.

You don’t seem unwell

Just because someone doesn’t look like they are sick doesn’t mean they aren’t. Plus just because you don’t see it doesn’t mean that it doesn’t happen. Some people can be mentally unwell and having a bad mental health day (week or month). When someone is physically sick we feel sorry for them. When they have a broken bone we wish them a speedy recovery. Like we can’t see the bone so… (And yes I know we can see the cast). Why isn’t it this way when someone is mentally sick? Why not have the same empathy? why not the same mindset?

“I know how you feel”

9 times out of 10 those who say this don’t know how you feel. It almost never comes across as how you want it to come across as. It almost always makes them feel worse. Like you don’t suffer from depression, bipolar disorder, an eating disorder like anorexia or bulimia (yes I know there’s more but these are the most common that we hear about), anxiety, schizophrenia, etc. So how can you possibly know what someone is going threw if you never been in their shoes?

Things will be better tomorrow

If you never suffer from a mental illness almost always things will not be better tomorrow. Like yea, things might be better tomorrow then they were today but they will never be up to those standers. Everyone has different hurdles to jump threw on a daily basis but saying “things will be different tomorrow” when you’re just trying to get threw the day can be hard. And what if things don’t get better tomorrow? What then? Things don’t automatically get better all because 10 people say so.

Having a mental health illness comes with its good days along with the bad ones. there’s no manual for it. Think we should all be careful of what we say when we’re around people cause we never know what someone is going threw. words can hurt and it can stick with someone for a lifetime. I know I kept saying “mental health illness” it’s just because I didn’t know what else to say. So if that upsets you in any way please let me know in the comments.

Popular books I haven’t read yet.

Ok. I did a post called Series that I’ll probably never read or finish that I did back in October. I have more followers than I did back in October 2019 so thought I’d do a post about the popular books that I haven’t read yet. Now, I’m the type of person who doesn’t really like reading popular books when the hype is around them so there might be good reasons why I haven’t gotten to these books or just simply I haven’t gotten around to it. So let’s see what popular books that I haven’t read.

The Ballard Of Songbirds And Snakes

This book just came out about a week or so ago and i havent read it yet. It seems like everyone is really hating it or really loving it. I know I want to read this book but with everyone currently reading it don’t know if it’s a good idea to read it or not.

The Silent Patient

This was popular at least last summer. But I haven’t read it even though the hype has died down. I don’t know if I ever will read this book.

Gone Girl

I always wanted to read this book. But I haven’t got around to it. I dont know much about it. Or when it was popular. But I know that this is a book I want to read.

Red White And Royal Blue

This book was popular around the time it came out. I do have the kindle edition but I haven’t been it the mood for it. I know it’s an enemies to lovers kinda long distance thing. But other than that I know nothing. I do want to get this book done though.

The Percy Jackson Series

With the news that this is going to be on Netflix, this has kind of gotten a resurgence in popularity. I know I didn’t read it when it was popular and I probably will read it now. Just a matter of when I get around to it.

There are the popular books that I haven’t read yet. What are some books that are popular that you haven’t read yet? I would love to know in the comments!
