Summary

As Faith tries on her future mother-in-law’s wedding dress in preparation for her wedding, her tears are not of joy. The hideous frock is nicknamed ‘The Ghost Web’ by Faith’s best friend Marilyn, who can’t understand why Faith would even consider wearing it. But there’s a lot Marilyn doesn’t know about Faith – not the least of which is that Faith is just the latest of the names she has called herself.

Faith and her brother Sam survived a traumatic childhood which included having to change their names to hide from the past, but surviving has left scars. Faith’s generous fiancé Perry doesn’t just promise to be a partner, he offers freedom and security, and enough kindness to keep Faith squashing down any doubts on what ‘being in love’ really means.

It’s not until she meets an extraordinary group of women at the Grace Chapel choir, that things start to become crystal clear. As choir leader extraordinaire, the indomitable Hester, holds a mirror up to her ragtag group of singers, all with their burdens and insecurities, and teaches them to see how magnificent they are, so Faith can dare to dream of a future where she and Sam can stop running and she might even be ready to accept the love that she deserves.

Number 1 bestselling author Beth Moran is back with her trademark ingredients of wisdom and warmth, heartbreak and hearts soaring. Perfect for fans of Jill Mansell, Philippa Ashley, and Jenny Colgan.

Thoughts:

Disclaimer: I think that it is heavy because the trigger warnings that I mentioned are heavily present in this book from the beginning. So if you are someone who wants to read this book but knows that it could be put in the wrong headspace, then I would suggest waiting till you are either in the right headspace to read this book or just waiting till the next Beth Moran book that I talk about maybe that will be more up your alley.

I will say that Beth has become one of my favorite authors over the last few years. I think that this book is another one where the writing got me. I was invested the more that I got into it. I think that writing has become one of the things that I look forward to when it comes to Beth Moran. Because I know that the writing will get me when it comes to her books.

Another one of my favorites was the characters. Because Beth has a way to make sure that her characters come to life. And this one was no different. You can almost feel the characters as they come to life and you also fear that both Faith and Sam have when it comes to certain people from their past. You can tell that they are still worried when finding out that a said person is getting out. But I loved the relationships that are getting formed both romantically and platonically.

There were things that I wasn’t a fan of. One of them is that Faith doesn’t want to tell Perry about her past. She felt comfortable telling someone who wasn’t even her fiance. I get that sometimes maybe telling a stranger who doesn’t know the situation that you are in. I do think that maybe a little bit of communication could have gone a long way. Especially when this man thinks that he knows who he is marrying.

Here is the thing, I wasn’t the biggest fan of the Perrys family in general. They came off as assholes just because they had money. Personally, not the biggest fan of characters being full of themselves just because they had money. Do think it takes a strong significant other if you have in-laws like Faith?
