Every Step You Take Review

Genre: Psychological Thriller, Adult

Page Count: 331

Style: Ebook

Trigger Warnings: Stalking, Drugging, Death Of Parent

Summary:

Run for your life…

This year’s London Marathon is my last chance to win the final place on the Olympic team. The months of rehabilitation after my injury will feel worth it to cross that line.

But I wasn’t expecting the man who’s been making my life a living hell to be there. Last I knew, my stalker was behind bars, but he says he’s going to be at the race watching. I have 26 miles to figure out whether it’s him, and what he wants, or I could lose more than just the race.

A taut psychological thriller, perfect for fans of Teresa Driscoll, TM Logan, and Daniel Hirst.

Thoughts:

I have stated multiple times that psychological thrillers aren’t my cup of tea. But I do enjoy how authors like M.A. Hunter set them up to where you do keep guessing who is the mastermind. I do enjoy those kind of psychological thrillers. The ones where as soon as you think that you figure it out the author changes the question.

I will admit that I still had a fun time reading this because even though it wasn’t my favorite I can have a fun time reading a book in a genre that I have had little to no success in finding books that give me the thrill that I am looking for. If you find a way to keep me hooked and keep me guessing to the very end, I will keep coming around. Which is what M.A. Hunter did.

I will admit that I am glad that this book has taken place mostly in the last 6 months. To where the characters are gearing up for the Olympics that are happening this summer in Paris. The majority of the book does take place on race day which is April 21st, 2024 with the before chapters taking place obviously before the April 21st race day. This is something that I enjoy when it comes to M.A. Hunter because he gives you seeds from the past that don’t seem important but they find a way to make you think about what it is that will be revealed by the end.

If you have been around for a while then you know that I am a sucker for a short chapter. Just because I think that it helps make a book move faster than it does. I think that this is one of those books where the writing was there, the characters were there and it made you just want to read this book in one sitting. Because you just want to know if Mary is going to find out if her stalker is really at this race or if she is crazy.

I did like the fear of the main character just because it made it seem more real knowing that the stalker could be anywhere and she doesn’t know what to do. It also doesn’t help that when she tries to ask for someone to at the very least calm her nerves, no one is willing to do that making her wonder if her stalker is there or if she is just crazy even though what she is feeling is completely valid. It is almost made out to be the girl who cried stalker.
