March Wrap Up

Where did March go? I had a great reading month. I think that I was enjoying what it was that I was reading. And I think that with the time change, I think that it was important to pick books that were either fast past or books that were more on the shorter side just till I got used to the time change. I did end up reading 8 books in March and 3 of them were freelance books. Those are labeled as such. So let’s get into the books that I read this month.

What I Finished This Month:

Everything Aliens Always Wanted To Know About Sex

This was a beta reading client that I got at the beginning of the month. Truth be told, I enjoyed the short stories in this read. Because it seemed like this was something that I didn’t have to read every day if I didn’t need to. But I do try to get all beta reading done within a week of getting it. I am glad that I got some short stories in case I wasn’t in the mood to deal with the emotional damage that Beth Moran was putting me through. I think that if you are looking for a book full of short stories that revolve around smut then I would check this one out. Granted, not everyone has smut in them even if it was the overall theme of the short stories.

Lean On Me

Oh my god. I enjoyed this book and I think that I am glad that I read it. If you know me then you know how much I enjoy Beth Moran’s writing. I think that she has become one of my favorite authors. This book does deal with some heavy topics so I think that if you want to read this book, make sure that you check out my review for the trigger warnings. As much as I think that the story is important, I think that readers need to be safe in the media that they consume. I think that this is one of those that even though I enjoyed it, I know that it isn’t going to be for everyone.

Lean On Me Review

Clap When You Land

My favorite book of the month goes to… this book. I think that I needed something to help make sure that I adjusted to the time change. Because it seems like everyone was struggling this month. At least among the readers that I have talked to. I think that with the time change, reading a powerful novel in verse was exactly what I needed. It helped keep me reading when I felt little to no motivation to. And honestly, Elizabeth Acevedo has a way to make you care about the family that she writes about. This one was no different. I just wanted to know what was going to happen with Camino and Yahaira to the point where I did not want to put this book down.

Ariel Crashes A Train

This was another novel told in verse. I think that this one does have an important message when it comes to OCD and intrusive thoughts. It does have a trans side character and at the very least bi main character. I will say that if you have intrusive thoughts and OCD, I am sorry because it must be exhausting. This was a great story and loved that it was told in verse but I do think that if the author wants to expand the world and expand on Ariel’s story then I would love to read it. I think that I would like to know more about Ariel and her world but I think that the author did what she thought was best for her and her story. I would love to read more from the author because I really enjoyed this story.

Where I See You

This was another beta reading story that I read this month. I will say that I enjoyed this story and think that it wasn’t what I was expecting but I think that I was glad that I kept my expectations low with this one. Because wow did this one blow me out of the water? I think that if you want a book that is a techno-thriller, a VR world, or a dystopian that just so happens to be suspenseful then this is going to be for you. I think that this is one of the ones that I am glad that the author reached out because I would have missed out on a great read if she hadn’t. I also might have laughed at the end of this because it wasn’t what I expected and enjoyed the ending.

Red Runs The Witch’s Thread

I am on the blog tour for this book so I don’t want to go much into this because you will hear my thoughts on this book very soon. But I am so happy that I was picked for this blog tour. I think that I enjoyed this book more than I thought that I thought that I would. I think that if you are going to read a book that revolves around witches then I think that you will like this one. I think that this one was amazing and was written in a way that made it feel like you were in the 1600s to 1700s. I can not wait to reread this one. Already counting down the days until I can reread this one. And I might read it again before the blog tour but we will wait and see.

Blood City Rollers

Another blog tour coming at you in April. April is just the month of blog tours. I think that this was a good read. I do want to know where the story is going to go because this ends on a cliffhanger. If you are looking for a graphic novel that has non non-binary rep then this is the one for you. I think that the artwork was wonderful and I enjoyed it. Usually first books in a series aren’t the best but I am looking forward to seeing where this story is going.

The Imerie Clan

This is the first book in a fantasy series that I am currently reading (the series, not the book). I will give more info about the books once I know a release day. But I loved how short the chapters were and how fast they read. This was one that I could finish in one day. Mainly because it was 50 pages. I enjoyed the first book and can’t wait to see where the series goes after the shocking (in a good way) ending. I think that you should keep an eye out if you are someone who either loves dragons in their fantasy or if you are someone who isn’t the biggest fan of dragons in their fantasy because I think that this one will surprise you. The author will be getting most of the feedback on the three books that they sent over.

What I Started But Didnt Finish:

Every Step You Take

The first blog tour of April coming at you this week. I do think that I will be able to finish this book in the next couple of days. I am currently 54% into this book and I am enjoying it. It isn’t going to be a 5-star read but I am hoping that it can throw me at the end like Adrift did when I read that book. But there is always a chance that it won’t. You’re just going to have to wait and see on Wednesday.

Here is my March Wrap-Up. Are there any books on here that you would like to read? If so, I would love to know. I would also like to know what it is that you read in March.
